TII is an approved NZQA category one provider,  students applying for a student visa and enrolling in 14 weeks or more; will be entitled to in-study work rights, where they can study and work part-time for up to 20 hours per week.

ABOUT THE COURSE

At TII we offer Certificates of English Proficiency for Academic Purposes suited to students of all skill levels. These classes are run by experienced and qualified teachers who want to help you develop your knowledge, skills, and confidence when using English Language. 

Classes are small in size and are designed to help students develop a strong English foundation for further study, employment, and everyday life in New Zealand.

 

Our classes are relaxed, and friendly, with a high level of student support. Students are tested every six weeks so students can see how they are progressing in their studies and seek feedback from teachers.

  • class times: 9am to 12pm and 1pm to 3pm.

Level 1: 0-5.0 IELTS

ELEMENTARY 

Students will have a basic knowledge of English grammar structures will be able to produce simple English discourse.  Learners can understand and use simple phrases and sentences, but struggle with complex structures. The focus is on building vocabulary, improving basic grammar, and practicing everyday communication to gain confidence and fluency.

Level 2: 5.5-6.0 IELTS

UPPER INTERMEDIATE

Learners can handle more in-depth discussions and write about a variety of subjects, but may still make errors in accuracy. The focus is on refining grammar, mastering nuanced communication, and improving fluency in reading and writing academic or professional texts.

Level 4: 6.0-7.5 IELTS

ACADEMIC 

This course is designed for students wishing to gain Band Scores into the 7+ Range of IELTS or those who require critical thinking and academic skills for university or higher learning. 

Level 2: 5.0-5.5 IELTS

INTERMEDIATE

Students will have expanded their passive and active knowledge of grammar and can produce discursive work at a greater level. Learners can engage in conversations on familiar topics but may struggle with more abstract concepts. The focus is on expanding grammar knowledge, improving listening and speaking skills, and introducing more complex reading and writing tasks.

Level 3: 6.0 - 6.5 IELTS

ADVANCED

Students will have the skills necessary for negotiating academic discourse. Learners can express themselves fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching for expressions, yet may need to refine precision and style. The focus is on achieving near-native accuracy, mastering idiomatic language, and engaging with more complex texts and discussions.
